Back To School Reminders

It's that time of year again: Back to School!

In the hustle and bustle of purchasing school supplies, don't forget to drop by your Whaley's Pharmacy location for the items your kids need for a healthy school year - vitamins and flu vaccinations are at the top of our back to school lists!

Not only is taking and having up to date immunizations an important part of back to school, but so is getting enough rest every night.  According to The National Sleep Foundation, children ages 3 - 5 really need 10 - 13 of sleep including "decent" bedtimes of anywhere from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  Children ages 6 - 13 need approximately 9 - 11 hours, which should begin anywhere from 7:30 - 9:00 pm.  Teenagers over the age of 13 should average 9 hours of sleep.

The best way to decide on a bedtime for all children - and yourself! - is to count backwards from their wake up time.  As for you, don't forget to get all the sleep that you need to function and help your children to succeed throughout the school year!  Studies suggest that the average adult should get 7 - 8 good hours of sleep.  Let's face it: the more we all stick to these guidelines, the happier we all will be!
